Family & I want to go and see the 6am mass hot air balloon launch tomorrow. I was wondering on the options of parking outside and maybe riding into Ashton Court via the trails. Any tips on any parking restriction free places best suited for this. I believe the Clifton suspension bridge is closed to all for this period. โ“

Anywhere on Winterstoke Road isn't too far away from Ashton Court, no trails though. Or if you want a bit more of a ride, you could park at Flax Bourton village hall and ride along festival way to Ashton Court (or anywhere in Long Ashton I suppose).

You could park in the Failand area and ride in via the 50 acre trail. If you want to be closer there's parking at Bedminster cricket club, but be prepared for traffic congestion.

Ok, ta.

We want to avoid traffic if possible.

Anything up on the A369 near Leigh Woods?

I guess i'm hoping for really close, avoiding traffic & maybe head in on a footpath or trail as with child.

You could try North Rd but I would imagine everyone else has the same idea. There are also a few side streets to try.

Ah, so you want the moon on a stick? ๐Ÿ˜‰

You could try the car park at Leigh Woods, then ride through Leigh Woods to North Road, back up to the A369, cross over and ride along the pavement (shared use and quite wide, also possible to cut into the old timberland trail through a gate) to the Clifton Ashton Court gatehouse.

There'll be traffic anywhere on the a369, especially if you have to drive up Rownham Hill to get there.

Or you could park somewhere on cumberland basin (maybe by the create centre, and again use the festival way to get to Ashton Court - completely traffic free route).

Traffic isn't normally too bad for the am launches. The Clifton bridge is only shut in the evening for the 2 night glows. No access to north rd and a one way system in place around Ashton ct. I'd park in Clifton or on the downs then ride over the bridge.

Where are you coming from? I'd park in Leigh Woods, as it's only a shortish walk / ride form there.
Check the Suspension Bridge website for accurate closure times.

Coming from Stroud, M5 & then A369. Is Leigh Woods car park the one at the bottom of Valley Road? if not we'll try North Road or further out at Church Road. Aiming to arrive around 05:30, so hopefully quiet(er) then.
