As it says really, I'm looking to replace the hope mono minis on my yeti 575. I normally do a lot of big ups and downs in the lakes and fast trail riding, nothing too crazy, and not much trail centre stuff.
Was going to get hayes stroker trail from merlin at about £160 but they seem to have run out.
Looking for reliability and power, ideally simple to fit and look after, not too much faff. Probably 180/160 or 160/160. Obviously SLX from merlin are fitting the bill, anybody seen any good deals out there or got any thoughts?
Cheers
Or for a bit more bling, but breaking the budget a bit..

BB7s? Why faff around with hydraulics?
go on, squeeze your purse a little harder
I got some Stroker Trails from Merlin a couple of months ago, think about £150, Wooly Hat had them at that time too, think even cheaper as I found out later. If you can I'd hang on and get them when they are in stock again. Havent had them down any really long stuff yet but for XC they have been great.
Have XTR on another bike, great brakes but not noticably better than the Hayes IMO and a lot more spenny......
Anything shimano. My xtr's work no better than my M525's.
XT

Shimano, end of.
Get some 2nd hand M4s off the classifieds & sell on the Minis
Really shouldn't end up costing too much
I've just fitted Elixer Rs from Merlin to my Anthem X. Now has loads of stopping power with the 160mm F/R rotors.

Although inflation seems to have taken effect, I bought them last week for £137 for the pair!! Still a bargain and if you do some research you will find it hard to find anyone say anything bad about them
OOOH some good ideas there, thanks all, anybody else? Never ordered from abroad tho'. Hmmmm.
