[Closed] Best March/April bike holiday suggestions?

I am looking to go abroad alone to somewhere with warmer weather (Scotland) and great riding in March/April. I like the idea of guided uplift riding covering large distances with challenging terrain for a medium skilled rider on a 6" bike e.g. not mental freeride but not boring XC volume. An idea of my level is that I am happy riding at trail centre black level all day long including jumps and drops etc.

The package would ideally include transfers, accomodation and food. Could you please suggest the places and companies you have had this type of experience with and not broken the bank.

Thank you

Martin

Yeah, me too.... looking for hot and dustry, long meandering techie DHs, rather than plummit and back flip stuff. Good food and dribk, and an uplift...

Whats available?

Sierra Nevada is Spain was good to me a few years back, we went with Dave at "moauntainbiking andulucia" or something liek that. Dirt cheap.

I was looking at www.switch-backs.com which is also Sierra Nevada. I noticed that the height of riding available in April was nowhere near as much as June and wondered if you miss out on a lot in April? Bit pricey as well until you consider everything in it.

Probably just a temperature thing. In June you will have to be high so you don't pass out from the heat!
i was out there end of september a few years back and i'd say the temperature was perfect, we didn't have to start at dawn, and the sun was nice and warm by the time we got back to the village/pub mid-afternoon. 🙂

went with switch-backs 2 years ago, mid-march.

it was nice and warm in the sun, but the cloudy days were a bit hat-and-jacket if you wanted to sit outside with your mid-ride meal.

we were told that some of the high-altitude stuff was still buried in snow at that time of year, we still rode our ar535 off though, some pedaling, lots of long flowy techy downhill trails. awesome.

highly recommended.

Switch-backs for sure, been in April and it was very good, nice weather, cool enough during the day but a little chilly in the evenings, trails have always been dry apart from the odd bit of rain and after 6 times there the trails are still awesome. Mike can cater for the type of riding you want to do (uplifts or long climbs, etc. but loads of quality dry and dusty singletrack). As much challenging terrain as you want.

(Mr MC posting)

Morocco. With Cycleactive. 4x4 assist so XC with a DH bias (total trip was twice as much descending as ascending). Expert level riding (exodus is nearly all doubletrack by comparison). THE best holiday Ive had and the bes riding Ive ever done (ridden Alps, all over US...). Compared by an even better travelled rider in our group as all the best riding in one place- on one ride we rode moab slickrock, low alpine meadow and high alpine rocky singletrack within an hour.

MC and I can get a bit evangelical about it almost a year on...

MC's 30th birthday and the single best days riding ever for either of us (30+yrs riding experience between us)

Flew Easy Jet from Gatwick. It is THE most awesome holiday I have EVER had and every time I look at the pictures I smile it was just awesome. The riding was unbelieveable the stuff that you saw on a daily basis, in the middle of nowhere. The flight was about £150. You will spend such minimal money when you are there as literally all you need is beer money in the evenings which is cheap. AlpineJason if you want anything else feel free to drop me an e-mail.

Mainly warm and sunny weather in March/April, we are based on the coast in Southern Spain.
Great singletrack riding during the day & lively night life on the coast at night.
