Hi,
I want to create routes that can be used for turn-by-turn navigation on a Garmin (800).
I want routes that allow you to plot road and offroad and preferably 'snap' to the road/tracks. First one I tried struggled when I started plotting bridleways.
Any recommendations?
Cheers for any help.
Mmm it was ridewithgps that didn't like me plotting the bridleways. Maybe I had the wrong settings/maps on when I went offroad.
It's always going to be a problem off-road. It's down to the mapping and whoever sets up that data - nothing to do with online/offline - and also on device settings and mapping.
I just plot/use tracks rather than routes, inserting trackpoints wherever seems most appropriate.

Don't tick "Follow Road" for the offroad bits, and plot them on the OS map
Routes can make too many points for some GPS, so I tend to use GPX tracks
I find www.plotaroute.com good, can down load in TCX (for turn by turn) or GPX
Off road wasn't to bad, if section of trail not playing ball, flick to walking
+1 for bikehike. Let's you see proper OS maps. Hit options and you can choose to use openstreetmap for routing which is your best bet off road. If it doesn't work, turn off snap to roads altogether and do it by hand.
