"Best" bang for buck gravel bike wheelset?

I currently have a pair of Spank Wing 22 rims laced into a pair of Pro 2 Evo hubs on my Fearless.

They were built up a couple of year ago and are holding up well to the challenging terrain conditions we have in East Anglia 😏

I'm currently running an Ultegra 11 speed cassette but the one you can run on a 11 speed MTB freehub and currently shod with 40mm tyres.

I'd like to have the option for an 11 speed road cassette, centre lock rotors and a rim that will take upto a 42mm tyre - i've no need for larger.

Probably looking off the peg or from somewhere that builds custom wheels as the two wheel builders that I have used previously are miles from me.

I'd like some 303s but I've read mixed reviews on the Zipp hubs.

I've had a pair of Just Riding Along Monitors on my gravel bike, running 40-50mm tyres - done nearly 8,000 miles with no issues.

£450, less than 1600g.

Recommended.

Hunt are discounting most of their wheels at the mo:

Gravel Wheels | Hunt Bike Wheels

Or I could sell you some lightly used Superstar V6/Arc Ultra wheels for less than half the price - as I've just gone to wider rims 🙂

Whatever DTs you can afford, I think I'd be content with the GR1600, just a shame there's nothing between that and the GRC(arbon) 1600 it seems

Nice bundle, and also available for £250 for just the wheels.

I'd just flag up:

  • Weight: 2050 g Approx.

TBH anything will do. I did the KAW on a set of Mavic Aksiums - lower end, low spoke count, managed fine fully loaded !  Just set yourself a price limit.   How about handbuilt wheels ?
