How do-able is the route from the cairmgorm carpark, heading south, up to Ben Macdui, then double back to summit of Cairngorm & back down via the cafe at the top?
If it is ridable, what bike is best suited? 4" FS, long travel hardtail or ridged fatbike? ๐

Fatbike would be ideal. It's a pretty stiff climb from the car park to the Ptarmigan, then a paved/cobbled path most of the way to Cairngorm. The terrain then gets a bit soft and the path is interspersed with boulders. Assuming you stick to the obvious track, you'll have a decent enough ride.
Sounds good. I was planning swinging right out of the car park & heading to the Ben first, not climbing up to Ptarmigan, but I would imagine that path is also fairly similar in condition (hopefully)
Nah - the only way you're realistically gonna do it is going up and down the same way.

Gives you a good idea of what the terrain is generally like. Wander off the main track and you'll be lifting your bike over those sort of rocks all day.
Hahaha cheers for the info, that pic kinna says it all! ๐ฏ ๐
