Anybody is familiar with bc bike race? Going for it next summer on my rocky Mountain altitude weighing around 26lbs trying to lower weight and wonder which tire combo will best best to save weight and perform well in the conditions also which xtr brakes race or trail?
Thanks

There are a couple of threads on BCBR if you do a search...

I did it this year and it was wet even by BC standards. I also wasn't looking to do anything other than finish and so I did it with 2.5 Minion DHF front and rear. Probably not recommended to be honest as there is the odd road section where the drag was somewhat noticeable. ๐Ÿ˜€ But it did make Squamish and Whistler oh so fun.

If I was doing it again (which I'm not as it's $$$$ and once was enough) then I'd go for something with a bit less rolling resistance but still fairly aggressive as the trails are reasonably technical and 600 riders makes a big mess of them unless you're at the front. We had 3" of slop; people the year before had 3" of dust.. The Maxxis Aggressor for example would be on my list.

I wouldn't go too light though on tires. Long days in the saddle + roots + rocks meant I saw an awful lot of flats. In place there must have been 50 riders who'd all had problems on the same rocky descent.

I rod it in 09 on a very light xc set up - Rocket Rons IIRC on a SC Blur Xc & was fine.

I'm going back this year with a bit more travel under me on a Pivot 5.7c & I'll probably go for a light tyre set up again.

Do you puncture a lot on the tyres you're currently using? If it ain't broke don't fix it..

Thanks that what I'm going for too finish it probably gonna stick with maxxis as they are really resistant I ride ardent 2.4 rear might go ardent race 2.35 instead just to help a bit and depending on conditions I know last year was super wet. I ride minion 2.35 might use specialized butcher control or keep a new minion maxxis exo are pretty durable.
