Strangely enough I refuse to take public school boys on my expeditions however many marathons they have run.

He, obviously, doesn't want to be upstaged.

I wonder where Kenton Cool, the guy who dragged him up the Eiger north face, comes from? Kenton certainly went to Leeds Uni and lived in Sheffield for a few years, whilst learning his trade. Mind you, with a name like Kenton Cool, he's unlikely to have come from Barnsley.

I suppose if you're forging a path into the unknown, exploring new places and undiscovered worlds, it would be a bit off-putting if there's some grumpy bugger next to you always pining for "God's own country" and crap tea.

Kenton Cool's wife is called Jazz! Jazz Cool!

I wonder what they'll call their kids.

I'm torn over Ranulph, one part of me likes him and his attitude, the other thinks he's a bit odd. I'd love to be on one of his teams, but at the same time it just seems to me that from his own admission he was a complete failure at most things but has managed to talk himself into money to pay for many failed expeditions. But good on him for raising cash for charities.

when i was at camp america the other americans there knew nothing about the uk other than london is the capital city
but they all agreed that the worst uk counsellors were from yorkshire i was surprised as it was literally the only county they could name
