This place is basic, but pretty good - stayed there a few times:

About 10 mins drive to the trail centre, if that.

ERM - well, if you follow the road straight over from the front door, you eventually get to a bit where you can go right up the hill or left down the hill.

Up the hill is a pub, which was just a quiet pub - not bad, not great. It was OK.
Down the hill, there's a hotel with a bar. We had a decent meal in there & the beer was OK, but the heating was up so high that we left as soon as we had eaten - it must have been over 30 degrees in there!

There's also a decent cafe for brekkie, a small convenience store, a newsagents and an HSBC cash point.

The hostel has a kitchen with decent facilities, incl. coin operated washer/drier and a drying room. The kitchen also has a TV in it and either a DVD player or video (can't remember). There's normally plenty of bike/walking mags left there by others.
Last time we went the radiator in the drying room wasn't working, so if we were to go again, I would probably take a small clothes hanger thing and a fan heater to make sure my clothes dried out!

Oh, and most importantly - they have a sturdy bike lock up, but take your own locks to secure the bikes to the stands in there.

Very good - only 10 mins from the trail head.

Bike washing facilities, can store bikes inside, drying room, bar & restaurant. Very nice owners who are always keen to help you with whatever you want - and they ride as well

Cae Gwyn

Camping field is overgrown and slopey, but Barn and Self catering OK. 10 mins bike ride to trail head. MTB friendly.

Cae Gwyn was pretty good, can't get much closer and the accomodation (B&B) was nice enough.

The owner took it well when he caught us using the rotating toaster thing to make cheese on toast too.

We needed hot food for our breakfast.
