At least it's not for my bike.

Mrs S has a Trek roadie, mostly black with annoying random white bits.

She's getting a new, red, bar bag as a present.
Her choice.
Bars needs new tape, currently black.

Do I dare risk an attempt at colour coordination?

Her MTB seems to have acquired lots of random blue bits, so I know she's partial to a bit of bling.

I could ask her, but where's the fun in that?

Black or red.
Or something else?

Help.

How do you tape the overlap to keep it neat?

Or just do that yerself.. It's easy, not quite as neat but still easily doable.
Just taper the ends off, make sure theres enough glue and off you go.
Or..

You could do alternate colours on the same side, two colours of your choice alternately wrapped, first say black, then add in a Red and build it out from there..

Second Q - am I an average middle-aged bloke?

If answer to second Q is yes, answer to first question is 'No, probably best avoided'.

Exceptions possible for graphic designers and other style-concious types, ie see Q2.

depending on how the bars are shaped you could tape up to where the brake levers are, a bit of lumpiness wouldn't matter as you don't put your hands there and there will be overlapping anyway

Black. Every other colour looks stupid when it gets grubby. Which it will.

Henry Ford knew all about bar tape colours.

Allow me to direct you to Rule #8 for guidance: http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/#8

Although she may already be violating several rules with a bar bag. ๐Ÿ˜•

Cheers all.

I've done the alternate colour thing before (pink and yellow - the 80's have a LOT to answer for) might just give it a pop.

Good idea Ed.
Might do red to the hoods, black on the tops.

The great thing about SupaCaz tape is that you can easily change the colour.

You're going to need to, as it lasts about a week.

Lizard Skins FTW!

Tried that once. It looks crap once it goes grubby.
