They will explode and you will get barbed shards of carbon up your dinkle and will die. Or something like that from the last thread on here 🙂

Alot of carbon bars have a little aluminum insert to allow for tightening down bar ends.

(If of course you talking about riser bars then - go on start a fashion /I was never here) 😉

I'm using Carbon bars and caron bar-ends (made by Guizzo)on my Pace - admittedly doesn't see much use but it gets used now and again - also riding carbon Superstar forks.

No probs with any of them, I only tend to use the bar-ends for climbing or cruising along the flats on the road; anything offroad that isn't a climb sees me holding the bar rather than the bar end.

i have some easton ec90 31.8 bars, and i run cane creek ergo bar ends onto odi lock on grips.as the ergos actually connect onto the grips and not the bars,i think it's a good way of running bar ends.(+ the ergos are very comfy!!!)hope that was of some help.

I used to have bar ends on a Race Face carbon bar with metal inserts. They were fine until I crashed quite heavily and the bar end pinched in to the carbon fibre. Excluding crashing, they were fine though!

I run specialized bar endz on both my bikes that have the same carbon bar. Crashed a few times (broke the bar end)but bar been fine.

You can get reinforcing plugs from Specialized if in doubt. Many bars which claim to be 'bar end compatible' in fact aren't, EC70s being the obvious example, they usually crack long before achieving a sensible torque!

FSA bars are usually pretty thick so you'll probably be alright. Put some carbon assembly paste on the bar ends to reduce the amount of torque required too.

No, there's no reason to use bar ends, get the bar in the right place, get a wide one that'll pull your chest open a bit, and learn to climb with your legs.

😀

There, saved you from the fashion police, made you a better climber, and you loose some weight off your bike. I should charge for this advice...

Bar ends for me are vital in endurance events, 10hour, 24 hour, just to keep you hands moving around. Climbing with them is much better also, as its a better position.

Bar ends look good on flat bars, but risers is a definate no-no! I would hatre to race with risers tbh, just think it a much better position with flat bar and bar ends
