Parents have just moved there - from FOD ๐
Anything worth exploring in the area? Off road preferred...
There's LOTS of singletrack, but no hills to speak off. I used to ride there in the old days when I was at college but that was in the days of rigid, 8 speed bikes with cantilever brakes.
On today's steam rollers it'd be a bit dull.
road, Sunrising Hill (check out google maps). Youre close to all the riding us Oxford types visit; woburn, chicksands, chilterns.
Cotswolds is close. There is a VP book with it all in. There is some riding at Woodstock which would be close although there may be similar on BWs around Banbury - don't know. I ride Snowshill once in a while which is west Cotswolds. It's nice, with some real hills, better in the dry (but where isn't). Probably half an hour away.
I've ridden up sunrising hill. ๐ฏ ๐ฏ ๐ฏ 8O. I made it up -just, but I was on a MB, always thought about trying it on a road bike.
Some fairly nice cheeky singletrack along edgehill ridge and around Hornton, just a case of exploring really. Some nice short and steep dh tracks in that area too. The mud is red...
Thanks for the suggestions will do some googling tonight. Was quite disappointed my free BB in FOD has gone but sounds like there is plenty of stuff to explore.
Basically there is very little locally, sorry. But your close enough to the Cotswolds and Chilterns which will make up for moving away from the FOD.
and Cannock is the nearest trail centre
I live just to the east of Banbury and have a 2.5-3hr route 80% off road. Nothing exciting but it makes a good winter night ride. Drop me an email and I can give you more info on the route.
Not much in the way of single track or rocks but still nice to get out!
In terms of road riding all of the lanes to the east of Banbury / surrounding Brackley and north up to Daventry are good for a road ride. Plenty over to the west (Stratford direction) also.
