I got a couple of bamboo tshirts from aldi, they feel very nice next to the skin, nicer than merino. I wear them for non-bike exercise (running, gym) and they wick well and don't smell. I can't vouch for their thermal capabilities as haven't worn them as a base layer biking

very soft, like silk, but take an age to dry.

I've noticed that the cut on the Mountain Warehouse tops is not the most athletic. My Icebreaker tops are skin tight, whereas the MW ones are stretchy and not particularly flattering - hopefully this isn't the same with bamboo.

Bamboo: Not as itchy for the folks who dont like that aspect of Merino wool
but it does not wick or dry no way near as well as merino

I've not tried merino but I've got quite a bit of bamboo stuff and I'm well impressed with it. I use a bamboo top as a base layer and it's kept me warm enough. I can't say I've noticed that it takes a long time to dry but they do seem to keep me remarkably sweat free.
They're also good in the summer as they keep you nice and cool as well.

I get all mine from this place: BAM

They also plant a tree for each order placed, which is nice!

Have a Bambooty base layer, very soft and warm but once its wet (very sweaty me) it heavy and cold. Not the same performace in that respect to my HH Lifa's.

I've got a Highlander one from the local Army Surplus and got a womans one from Mountain Warehouse for my other half. I've been wearing mine a lot over the last few weeks and prefer it to Smelly Hansen for that reason. Never really noticed it gettin damp although its probably safe to say they do take longer to dry than HH but no longer than Merino. I also got a Merino top from mountain warehouse and although its basic I'm quite happy with it, its more of a mid layer though.

bamboo clothing is essentially viscose ie chemically digested cellulose extruded through nozzles to simulate silk so I wouldn't expect it to exhibit the pong-resistance of natural wool

I got some bamboo socks the other week, and I have to say I'm impressed!

very soft, feel a bit clammy when sweaty, but very pong resistant (with my feet, thats a huge bonus!)

Bamboo is good for bike frames apparently:

Don't know about the theory but in practise I've found it very pong free. But thats just my actual experience of wearing one.

My other half backs me up and she'd be the first to say if it was even the slightest bit smelly.
