[#2962830]

Currently have about five pairs of different baggy shorts, all bought on sale/cheap, and dislike all of them for various reasons - too heavy, too tight, too warm, ugly, have stupid buttons that constantly pop open, etc.

Can anyone recommend a decent pair? Don't mind spending a few quid to finally get a decent pair, although I don't want to stray into crazy/Assos territory. Loose fit, comfortable, and preferably black with no big logos or that kind of oddness.

Have a pair of Endura Zyme, which have the stupid, constantly opening button, and are a shit green colour.

Was looking at the Singletracks - they're black have a belt thingy, so that's possibly problem solved there. The Zymes fit pretty well, so the Singletracks should fit ok too.

@motgrips - it's a magnificent shape. Unfortunately the local bikes shops here have pretty limited stock, so I'm ordering online.

Altura Apex are my favourites.

Comfy, practical, seem very well made.

What makes/styles have you got amongst the pairs you already have?

Mace NOS fit really well, I like mine. The material feels tough and they use a double button rather than shitty poppers. I also have a pair of Dakine Syncline shorts which are alright - bit thinner and cooler so probably better for summer but they don't feel like they'll last as long.

Singletracks are quite a bit shorter than Zymes.

If you like the fit of your Zymes, try bartering with the lbs for a pair of Humvees without the (crap) liner.

Or some Dakine 8 Tracks - very good in a big/heavy/tough kind of way - or Fox Sergeant, also very good.

A stretch panel at the back is essential.

Singletracks or hummvees....

I love the feel & quality of the singletrack, but mine seem to come up just a little bit too short...

The hummvees are spot on for the dry stuff only.

Race Face Indy's are my summer fav short at the moment.

Love my Royal shorts. 247 for gravity stuff, F-Tech for trail riding. Their separate liner is really good, but the one that comes with the F-tech is pretty average.
