Having sunk a couple of glasses of wine I am reminiscing about the bikes I have had. My first mountain bike was a Specialized Rockhopper back in about 1995 I loved it and rode it loads, but then decent front suspension came along. Since then I have only had 3 mountain bikes, a Stumpjumper bought in 2001 which I would still have if it hadn't been stolen in May this year, a Hardrock which was all I could get to replace it with the insurance money (and by the way it's not a bad bike), and a Blue Pig which luckily was inside the house at the time of the burglary.
I am now starting to yearn for a rigid bike again. Is this due the effects of alcohol or is there still good fun to be had. What rigid bikes are you guys riding and rating?
after riding the trails loads on a cx bike this year I'm building up a rigid mtb up for racing and local trails. loads of fun and fast too!
I have a cotic Solaris with exotic carbon forks.
I keep seeing 29er sus forks in the classifieds and thinking about it but I always end up walking away because the bike is so much fun rigid.
It depends what you're going to use it for, though. Mine is mostly used for sdw stuff but I have done more tech single track on it and it was still a hoot.
Now they're making a small one so if you're not a lanky bugger like me you can still enjoy a clown bike.
Man up. You don't need to ask. Make it so!
Pegasus with a niner carbon fork- it rocks
Despite a new susser, I have mostly been riding my rigid scandal 29er the last couple of months. Its unbelievable how capable rigid is once you get used to it and even dull trails become fun again.
Yeah, try it on a 29er. Nicely different to your other bikes too.
Yeah do it.....
I just went back to rigid but went a bit extreme and went fat!
Loving it.
It's the wine goggles!
Seriously though, it depends where you want to ride it.
Or how fast you want to ride it, wherever you intend to ride it.
Yes, no, maybe.
Try it and find out for yourself.
I love my rigid bikes.
I also love my hardtails/fullsussers/fatbike/tandem. ๐
Food for thought - thanks for the responses so far.
A few more recommendations of what bikes you are riding and rating would be great ๐
I have a 1989 fat chance , rigid and single speed - great fun

What kind of bike are you looking for and what do you want to do with it?
My 29er Singular Swift is fun, versatile, and good value. Run it rigid or HT (comes with steel forks), SS or geared, any which way.
I've changed my mind from yes,no,maybe to yes.
What would I recomend?
In true STW style any of the bikes I ride of course. ๐
