Yer head weighs quite a bit

Couple that with a riding position where your head is extended and pulling on your back which is carrying a heavy-ish weight

Muscles get pulled / strained and tighten up

Dehydration plays a big negative part in health / recovery

So all in all, probably a good idea to drink plenty of water, put an ice pack on your neck/shoulders and do some light stretching. Take some ibuprofen as well - in excess of the normal doses it acts as a muscle relaxant

Btw I am NOT a doctor and I do not recommend you do something stupid 🙂

Headache can also come from spasming muscles rubbing on nerves which go to the head...I had that a long time ago - worst headache of my life and lasted about 4weeks

sounds soft but def try yoga - anything that helps with flexibility will make cycling nicer

As well as neck and shoulder stretches, after a long ride I use a firm foam-roller on my shoulders/ base of my neck. Google "The Grid foam roller". It definitely helps break down tight spots for me.

Tight glutes and hamstrings are often the cause of back pain for cyclists. When I found out about this and tried stretching them for the first time I was surprised how little flexibility they had, I've been stretching them for a little while and it is lessening the back pain.

It may be due to the heavy backpack you have been carrying. You need some medical attention along with some stretching and exercises and that will help in reducing the pain.

Try rising your bars a bit if you can. I got the same when I started riding on road. My bars were lower than I was used to so it took a while for my neck to get used to the change in position. I bought an adjustable height stem. Looked horrible but only used it for a few months. Just kept slowly dropping g the position and now I ride with the stem it was designed to have and no more issues

Try heightening your stem by using more spacers if your steerer tube is long enough, also I think more and more people are using wider bars when they are simply not needed, this can cause an unnatural body position, I wouldn't recommend more 675mm wide.

fivespot rofl....

Blower... sometimes it could be the straps and the way they are positioned and tightened..

there's a huge benefit to stretching before and after (I don't practice what I preach btw) and of course those darn core muscle exercises (not the down at the pub kind!)

as the others say dehydration leads to headaches most often...

I had really bad neck and shoulder pain from riding and I put a bit more air into my front forks and it worked a treat. You could maybe try that.
