We bought a burley when little fla was about the same age - just strapped his car seat into the buggy - worked really well , mostly rode fairly smooth trails - fire roads, ex railway tracks, that kind of thing

My wife's said no to road riding with the young en which I agree with.

Reckon cycling on sustrans routes, canals and bridle ways is better than no cycling at all which is what I currently manage.

Which burley did you get? The bee looks very good.

Look at getting one secondhand.

We bought a cheapy German one from eBay (£60ish) which is almost identical to one of the Burley ones. I made mount which hols the MaxiCosi car seat on vibration isolating mounts. Extremely secure. Now using with child no. 2. All good and has survived an accidental roll. Not keen on road use either.
