Not sure; but customer service is excellent. Just had 2 replacement batteries delivered completely FOC (and outside of warranty). ๐Ÿ™‚

Which part of the mount don't you like?

I'd prefer one that doesn't require nem zip ties every time you put it on.

The 6hr battery is a tight fit on my 70mm stem too - but I can live with that.

I reckon they'll be like most of the other light companies, they'll keep selling the outdated ones for as long as people will buy them.

They brought out a new mount - the Gecko mount. Sticks to velcro pads instead of zip ties. Been around for ages AFAIK

Woody - thats for the helmet mount. I'd like an alternative to the zip-tied bar mount, though using the same ones for the race no and light mount at 24/12 this weekend did look cool!

Just been to Ay-Up in Brisbane. They are about to offer an improved version. Will be on their website shortly.

It will come in a box. Also got a neat red filter to put over the light so it can be used for tail.

The guys there race 24 hours, so they know just what is needed.

Next, a visit to Velocity Wheels.

topangarider - I have attached the ay-up mount to a couple of old lumicycle qr type mounts via a couple of zip tyres

works well and allows me to easily put the mount on/ off different bikes (doesn't work on oversized bars though)

grievoustim, sounds like a neat solution - be good to have a look at a pic or 2 if you've got any, as I've some old Lumi halogens I could cannibalise for my Ay-Up bar lights.

epicyclo, ta for the news, looking forward to seeing it (although p'n'p from Oz /exchange rate these days makes them less attractive).

Did they say why they'd retrenched back to Oz? I was wondering if they'd reconsider opening up the franchise up here if it had just been a tactical withdrawal or was permanent.

I mentioned that. Conversation went another way about then, but I got the impression that they were already doing a large direct business with the UK as it was. Airmail from Oz gets the stuff to the UK pretty fast.

They had a number of UK orders being processed when I visited.

The placed was packed to the roof with new stock just been delivered (even the front office)

There's stuff on their website about the new v4 adventure, but it doesn't say if the led's have actually been changed, just the package itself.

Rest of website isn't up yet.

Slight hi jack of thread....

Has any one who bought direct had to pay import duties , VAT etc...

If so how much was it....

I'm thinking of getting a set but can't find out how much import duty ( if any ) will be to pay ...

I asked Customs & Excise and lets say the answer was not all together useful ๐Ÿ™ ... along the lines of ... How longs a peice of string...

Any advice welcome

The HMRC website is even worse. Good luck finding the rate ๐Ÿ˜‰

There'll possibly be import duty (maybe 5% of the cost of the goods?), then there'll be Royal Mail / DHL who will automatically add on a Customs handling fee, then you pay VAT on the total of everything, including the shipping, duty and handling. As a ballpark figure, I usually use cost of goods+shipping (exc VAT) then add 25%.

Quick bounce for this thread.

Having read this: mtbr.com Review

It would seem that they have been updated.

Anybody seen both the 2008 and/or 2009 kits?

lister-hooded - Yes.
A friend has just received a new light set and various spares, getting caught for import duties , VAT etc.
Looked to come to about 15% of the original price.
