not clear what's so great about the brakes; ossum feel or not, rim brakes - no thanks

Disc brakes would spoil the whole point of the restoration. You'd be surprised at how efficient rim brakes are.

not sure how you cant use disc brakes but you can use outboard bb but looks v nice

It's a beautiful bike - I always liked the Phoenix. It's a great restoration too, but I don't understand why the owner wanted to remove seatstay V mounts and have chainstay U mounts. The bike was built in the V brake era - why change from original (and better?) spec?
And Black Sabbath always works in the workshop to build a bitchin bike.
