[Closed] Avid juicy 3s lack of power - after bleed?

I have just bled my brakes, the back one worked fine and feels great now. The front one I have bled several times and it just seems to be really lacking in power - pretty sure there are no leaks anywhere and I have done it successfully with the other one so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.

Any ideas?

firstly check you haven't contaminated the pads or rotor...
with the fronts it's also worth squeezing the brake level several times while bleeding them (if you didn't). my front felt rubbish after a rebleed, turned out i had air trapped in the calliper which i forced out by repeatedly pumping the brake lever

Cheers - tried with new pads and cleaned the rotor - did pump the levers when bleeding. Looks like it's a trip to the LBS tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™

Tie the lever back overnight and top up the brake in the morning?

I had a similar problem with my Juicy 5s until I adjusted the reach adjuster screw and it seemed to do the trick.

make sure you remembered to push some fluid back into the lever before disconnecting. Sometimes the diaphram colapses. Doesn't really fit your symptoms but always worth checking as it's a common issue.

did you remember to take the air out of the syringes? ( close the clip on the tube and pull back the syringe handle a few times??) You'll be amazed at the air in the fluid itself....

Yup degassed the fluid and pushed the syringe down before disconnecting. Will try the tieing the lever down thing tonight.

Cheers all.

Well I did the lever tieing thing, and they did feel a bit better, then I re-bled the lever, felt a bit better, then I put new pads in and cleaned the rotor, and now they feel good!

Thanks everyone.
