Any recommendations for alternatives to Avid original pads for BB7\Jucies?
I feel this may be a troll, but I've never had any problems with superstars....
sintered superstar here - work dead well in the peak district
No I honestly wanted opinions on alternatives. I was expecting comments about Goodriche or Aztecs. Never thought about Superstar. I'll have a butchers.

The braking material falls off my superstar pads when they get low. Its not that much of an issue because it only happens when they've nearly run out anyway, but it is something to watch out for....
I find them a b*gger to fit in juicy 5s if there is the slightest bit of piston sticking out (as there always is on my juicys). the ramp at the bottom of the pad isn't sloping enough to fit in. a real pain when its cold on the trail and your fingers start to go numb.
Avid sintered here Original are organic
Neb: you're not the only one...
avid juicy 5 pads are an absolute dodle if you know the trick.do mine in in about 30 secs.
care to share the trick rob?
the trick is.put the return spring on the outside pad.put that in the caliper.the spring is now on one side and touching the other side of the caliper.put inside pad in on a slight angle and flick one side of the spring on to were it should be(from the hole on the other side, small screwdriver)tilt the pad the otherway and flick the other one on,slide in pad and thats it.this means you are not trying to locate onto two pistons at the same time and all that f.....g around trying to push the pistons back in.once you have done this once you will see how easy this is. piece of p..s
EBC Gold pads are a good balance post Avid
I would advise keeping the original avid springs. The last ones I had from SS were too big for the caliper and not snug enough on the pad. The actual pads were fine but the springs were bobbins.
never had any problems with ss springs.touch wood.
rob surely if you don't push your pistons back the pads are then too close and you'll be rubbing the disc - that's if you can even get it inserted at all?
I've been using Goodridge sintered for a couple of years with no issues. Just make sure you bed them in properly. Lots of 20mph heavy braking stops on the road works well.
allyharp.why should they be.the pistons are back in as the lever is not being pushed,if you leave the levers alone after youv,e taken the pads out it,s not a problem.
