I'm trying to decide between upgrading my float 36 with either an Avalanche open bath damper or the latest FIT cartridge from Fox?
messiah had some great things to say about the Avvy, but very sadly he wont be adding to the thread. Has anyone tried both options?
Im seriously considering upgrading the abysmal CTD cart in my 34's to an Avvy Advantage cart so will be watching with interest.
Sell them and get Pikes 😉
I've ordered some Avalanches, it will still be cheaper than getting pikes which are not as infallible as some have said by some of the "Whats wrong with my pikes posts"
I wont be buying new forks, my frame is 11/8 and I very much doubt they would out perform an Avalanche cart 36.
The 2014 fox 34 CTD are fit dampers.
I’ve recently fitted an Avalanched 160mm 29er Solo Air Pike and DHX 5.0 air to my Helius AC 29er. It is still early days but I’m glad to say they do feel bloody good. The Pike replaced a 150mm Dual Air Pike that I’ve used for the past 4 months, which in turn replaced a 140mm Fox 34 Float CTD FIT that I ran for 11 months. Having already tried messiah’s bike with an Avy Marzocchi 55 RC3 Ti and DHX air combo I kind of knew what to expect, and so far I’ve not been disappointed.
It's also a 20 day lead time plus postage if you want some.
Good stuff Yetiman, how much did you get stung for import duty and postage please?
Bagstard - I bought the fork and shock from sellers in the USA so I only paid about $25 to have them both delivered to Avalanche. Messiah paid for the postage back to the UK, as we'd bundled all our purchases together to make one shipment with TNT, and sadly he passed away before telling me how much I was due him. A rear shock is normally $51 posted to the UK.
I haven't paid the duty and import tax yet, but I've just recently had an email through from TNT asking me to confirm the commercial invoice they received, so it looks like I'm paying just on the servicing work, which will work out at approximately $168. This is for two items so a fork on its own will be cheaper. 4.7% duty plus 20% VAT I think.
Yetiman, thank you.
