Thinking of making a weekend of it..I've read mixed reviews of the Climachx trail..
Climachx is great. Make your own mind up.
CyB is quite central.
Antur stiniog, foel gasnach, cadet idris, ponth scethin, Snowdon, Marin, penmachno, Nant yr Arian not too far, llandegla not too far.
There's also a whole load of natural riding (not all legal) to take your pick from.
Get a map and make a route.
Take your pick.
I really like Penmachno ( are the felling diversions still on? ) Very disappointed with Nant y Aran, Snowdon I want to do later in the year. I've not heard of Foel Gasnach so will look that up as well as Cadir Idris. Are they doable this time of year?
Climachx is worth it for the final descent alone.
If you've got a suitable bike* and a DH lid then Revolution Bike Park is loads of fun**.
*a mate rode it on his 130mm Boardman FS and loved it
**take your own bog roll
Get away from the Trail centres and ride Pont Scethin or Cadair (best on a weekday!). Email me if you want more info.
Next time I'm here with the bikes im riding way more natural stuff. Ridden the trail centres a fair bit and they are good but the natural stuff is just awesome.
Be aware that the weather on 1st March may be, ahem, inclement. We are staying in Rhyd Ddu this week and woke up to this.

Cadir is probably best left till the weather improves...MBR said the descent is the most technical of their 3 mountains/ 3 months write-up.
Cheers..I'll check out Pont Scethin.
Anything else I should consider?
