It is years since I rode over there and I always thought it wouldn't be much good in winter clagginess. Anybody know if the xc trails have been made 4 season friendly?
It's wet, it's Aston Hill. It will be more slippery than a politician going back on an election promise
Thought so!
Anything in the Chilterns will be very wet, slippy and difficult at the moment. Wait till it drys out. ie, May perhaps.
Unless of course you want to spend your time sliding down on your ass having bounced off all the trees first ๐
just get your mud tyres on and get practising your sliding skills
It is advice for a work colleague. It is more about not having the bike clagging up to the point where the wheels will not go round. If the trails had been uprated to hold up in the wet it may be worth a spin.
Even with mud tyres it will be very difficult and more frustrating than good slippery practice.
It will be quite hard to get enough speed to de-clag and the slippery surface together with wet roots are all going to add to the difficulty.
I wouldnt bother going personally.
But if your mate is of a high DH standard, has the spikiest of mud tyres and fully expects to spend most of the run out of control, go for it.
