new by the looks of the site, they've updated it I do believe.

I can nearer confirm or deny the rumors that snipers may be deployed 😀

I did it last year on SS, it was all very rideable, lots of singletrack conected by the odd firetrack or road, not very hilly. was very dry and also a very good event. I thought it might be a really tough course but wasnt particuly tough, but i only did the 2hr event, think i'll man up and try the 4hrs this year.

Damn, I was really keen to do this - but it's the day after I go on holiday.

Still, at least I'll be riding in the Alps at the same time.

The course has had a few minor adjustments to it, bit more fireroad and a little hill LoL the course detals (Garmin connect) will be up on site or Forum some time today.

More fireroad is good, that was my criticism of the last event. See you've sorted the start times too, which was my other issue, there's always gonna be some super fast people in the 2hr cat, and some plodders in 4 or 6hr, should be spot on this year then!

Just need my middle ring not to decide to destroy itself!

Are You Tough Enough? is back! Open to military and civilian riders alike, the Army’s open challenge to “Ride with the Best” returns for 2009 after a resoundingly successful inaugural event in 2008 that attracted well over 300 riders.

Once again brought to you by the Army Cycling Union(ACU), in association with Gorrick MBC, and with headline sponsors The Atomic Bike Co and, new for this year, For Goodness Shakes! and Giant Bikes. On the weekend of 5th July at Porridgepot Hill, Nr Deepcut, Surrey, Are You Tough Enough? will extend its format this year to include a 6 hour race, including a Team category, in addition to the Fun, 2 and 4 hour events. Racing will start from 1030 for the 6 hour race, 1230 for 4 hour, 1430 for 2 hour and 1530 for Fun. More details are available on the new event website www.areyoutoughenough.co.uk and online entry is available at www.mbsawebsite.com, entry costs from £13 for the fun race up to £55 for a team of 4 in the 6 hour event. If you missed the last Are You Tough Enough?, read the reports after the event and thought “wish I had gone”, well we are giving you a second chance to take part, so don't delay enter today!

The course will again be a mix of fast flowing and technical singletrack, with some new sections and of course not forgetting the odd bit of fireroad and track to give the legs a break as well as the occasional short sharp climb like "No Quitting", "The Ridge" and "Ant Hill Mob" just to let you know you are alive! Look forward to other classics such as "The Twister" and "Pants Way Down" too. Laps will be around 8 miles long. If you have raced at Porridgepot before with the Army or Gorrick you may think you know the course, but don't be fooled - there will be plenty of new stuff built by the ACU for the Army, so come along to see what we have to offer. Here are some of the comments we received after last year’s event:

“What a first class event!! Great course, great prizes & great organisation. Bravo Army CU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“That was one of the best courses! Really enjoyed it. Cheers!”

“Great event, fantastic course and really good atmosphere. Look forward to more events in the future!”

“Fantastic day! Thanks for a well organised race and a great course. The better half and kids were entertained for the duration (2h 27m!) so all was good, you even organised good weather, I think I may have to have another go next year!”

“Thanks for a great race, great course and a great event. Am I tough enough? Yes. Am I fit enough - just! I'll be back for sure!”

“Wicked event all round, loved the course. Some real hard work must had gone into making it!”

Timing will be provided by TimeLaps, with provisional results available to view on the day, and medical cover from Extreme Medics along with commentary and official photographer. For those of you who are really keen, camping will be available on site for the Saturday night.

Once again there will be prizes for the top three placed riders in each category as well as numerous fantastic spot prizes, provided by our generous sponsors and supporters - something to look forward to! There will also be lots for the non-racers to with plenty of other bike and non-bike trade stands as well as demos available from Giant.

Categories will be:

Fun Ride Mixed

2 Hour Junior Male 14 - 17
2 Hour Junior Female 14 - 17
2 Hour CSR Services Only

FFS! It's nothing to do with me! I'm not orgainsing ANYTHING! Although I did help a tiny bit last year and Kirsty helped with the sign-on duties.
😀

I shall be riding. 6 hours. Not worth doing any less.

I'd prefer 100% singletrack though, fireroad bores me to death!

I don't think I've ever ridden an event with a higher proportion of singletrack than this one - fast and furious the whole way round, with some horrid steep climbs! What little fireroad there was last year was a precious respite from the relentless change of pace, and a welcome opportunity to spin for a few seconds while forcing down a gel or some food...

Bring it on 🙂

I did a lap of the course this morning and it is definitely one of the better (if not the best!) enduro courses in the UK. Lots of fun singletrack 😀

Peter Poddy planned this event, built the land that the event is on (from a pile of twigs and leaves), and will be keeping an eye on all riders to ensure no cheating.......
He's also the army (all of it).

If you like enduro courses with lots of fireroad, you'll hate it. If you like tight singletrack, you'll love it. Last years course was a cracker.

Thinking 'bout it. It'll be my first serious off-roading since the hand injury, so I could probably easily be persuaded to do something easier ("ROB??!")
But I do have that Alps crossing to get fit for next month...

Isn't this the event Peter Pody organised last year?

What time does the entry on the day close? If I do eg the over 40's 2 hour, which starts at 2ish, can i sign on at 1 pm?
I know it doesnt leave alot of recce time, but looking at the Garmin over satelite piccys I am prtty sure i have ridden most of it with Jay.

Yes you will be able to. MOst people aren't going to be doing pre-ride laps frankly, so an hour will be plenty of time.

Pants organised it last year, with help with PP, and most of the Trolls.

What is the pitting arrangement for pairs?
Is there a fixed area for riders and gear such as Wiggle Enduro 6?
Can the pits be entered during the race, if leaving spares in car etc?

pants, are you sure it is the same as Enduro 6? That has a closed pit lane. So once you are in the pit area you can't leave until the race has finished, which means when you partner is out racing you just have to sit in the pit area - with no chance to look around all the trade stands.

It better not be as I have the kids arriving in the afternoon...
