Hi All.

Just bought an E bike for generally fun and help keep a bit fitter, but I do not really want to ride on the road, but trails track and thing I can off road, I have looked around and tbh nothing really that close, there is the cuckoo trail, and forest way another old railway line, but looking for something a little more challenging, the South Downs way looks more fun, but quite a way to drive there, I thought there was a link from Ringmer over the down but does not show on map.

I know not suppose to ride on the Ashdown Foret which is a joke and agree with people when reading other posts, and I live nr the Ashdown Forest too.

Any Suggestions please

Thanks

Friston Forest, down by Eastbourne. And bedgebury on the A21.

Friston has lots of trails, not marked but very easy to find, and a nice gradual fire road climb to the top. Bedgebury has a marked red loop, a single lap takes under an hour for anyone with semi decent fitness, you'll be able to smash out 2 or 3 laps on an ebike. Bedgebury ride well in the wet, can be ridden all year round. Friston is less good in the wet as its all dirt trails so tends to get sloppy. There's a nice big climb to the north of Friston too (look for the long man of Wilmington, the SDW goes above it) if you want to do some miles.

Plenty of bridal paths to get to the Downs where you are spoilt for choice, especially if you steer clear of the South Downs Way which seems to attract more sponsored events every year. Well worth getting an o/a map 😁

Uckfield is an easy drive over to Stanmer too, outside of rush hour anyway

Some of the bridleways heading towards Ditchling are fun, at least on a gravel bike and in the dry, tho you need to link them up on minor roads. Get a map and explore.
