Are reverbs slower ...

[Closed] Are reverbs slower than some of the others?

Hi all,

Just finished installing a new 170mm reverb with 1x lever.

I've bled it and it functions fine. But it seems to me a fair bit slower than my brand x one on another bike.

Could it be I have air in it or is it just how reverbs are out of the box?

It's cold, it'll damn near stop altogether if it gets colder.

Reverb with a Wolftooth conversion works very well, actually let's the Reverb be the post it should be.

I've paid extra for the 1x lever... I'm not putting a conversion on it lol

The speed is adjustable, have you turned it to fast?

I dunno how quick a Brand X one is but fitted a new Stealth 1x Reverb on Friday . Quick lever bleed and it’s as quick as I’d want it to be. Any quicker and I’d be worried about giving myself bruised balls

I need to give mine another bleed then. It's slow enough I've started this thread lol.

Shame I can post a video

Seatpost clamp a touch too tight?

What are you used to? if you’re used to a command post, I’ve seen slower, less terrifying, mouse traps...

They work fine with a bit of air in the system until it gets cold, and then they turn real sluggish. I proper end to end bleed, by the book, to get rid of every last bit of air will have it getting up close and personal with the old wedding tackle before you can say, ouch

Does it work with the speed adjust full slow? If not it needs bled. (I get a lot in which are slow with the speed adjust fast and dont work at all with the speed on slow)

Wind the speed adjuster in and out whilst pushing fluid from the post-lever, finish the bleed with the adjuster on full slow so you get as much fluid in the system as possible.

Also make sure you do the bleed with the adjuster set to slow, then set it to fast after you’ve finished. If it’s not fast it needs another bleed!

Bleed it on slow, then turn it to fast once you've done to increase the pressure / speed. It'll be slow in the cold anyway though

I always thought you bled them on fast. Good to know

Pretty sure the cold is a big factor, I'm seriously considering making mine mechanical, even though I upgraded to the 1x lever.

Why are people still buying Reverbs? Yes, they were the best available once, but everyone else has raised their game in the last couple of years.

The hydraulic actuation is more hassle than it's worth. Best thing I ever did with my Reverb was upgrade the remote to a Wolftooth ReMote Sustain. It' now a decent dropper and works perfectly even at freezing temperatures.

Have to agree Akers, much prefer the action of my Brand X with Raceface Turbine lever, the reverb always seems sluggish in comparison.

I have to disagree - haven’t tried brand x but have tried 2 or 3 others and always end up going back to reverb esp with the 1x. I currently have 3 of them operating with no problems at all. And yes I know that by tonight they will all be inoperative now that I’ve jinxed them!!

Me too. Always had Reverbs. Had very few problems.

A mate has one of those Bikeyoke Revives. Seems to me it wants reviving an awful lot!

There is no perfect, trouble-free post I know of.

That.I have a OneUp post, it's been great. On the other bike I have a Reverb with the 1x lever, which is also great. I would have got another OneUp but they were out of stock forever of the 170mm posts, so I went with a Reverb. it's also been great.

This made me chuckle and so true. Moving from a reverb to a command post you learn to control the return with your bodyweight very, very quickly

Sometimes it's worth sucking it up and just paying out for the solution.

I'd rather ride than spend my time bleeding a bleeding hydraulic Reverb.

Hopefully you'll get it sorted, I'd rather you had £85 than me be right.

Just re-bled it and found I'd not sealed the strain relief connection at the seatpost end properly when I'd cut the hose (had to replace the connectamajig with the shorter strain relief to get a 170 drop in my frame).

All bled up and it's absolutely rapid now despite it being cold.

Cheers for the input folks.

I'm well impressed with the rockshox bleed kit with the integrated port are the guide brakes as easy to bleed?

Tell him to email Sacki at bikeyoke.
He's really helpful.
I had a very small problem with one of my revives, emailed him on a sunday and he replied about half hour later with a solution.
He then rang me a week later to make sure everything was still OK.
Seemed very keen on knowing about any problem no matter how small.
