Anyone tried the DT Swiss XRC 100 single or twin shot or the race versions? Are the differences worth the money and is the 2011 range better than the 2010?

They seem pretty light and I need the remote lockout and theyre probably stiffer than the old 04 28mm WC sids...

Cheers

You need a remote lockout?!

They're marginally stiffer than the old 28mm SIDs yes, but the bushing wear can be horrendous and the coating on the stantions gets damaged very very easily.

IMO too expensive unless you get a stonking deal. I'd just get SIDs...

Yes need the lockout as I do alot of trailquest events, so a fair bit of fire road/tarmac...

Is that bushing wear the same on all DT swiss forks, even the 2011 range?

Are the steerer/yoke assemblies one piece or can you get replacement steerers?

Cheers......

Hi

On my XRC 100 WC editions, the steerer/crown is all one piece of carbon. The non-carbon ones have bonded/pressed in steerers, as does every other modern fork, so you can't replace them. You'd have to replace the crown/steerer/upper legs.

As Nick says, the bearing and stantion wear is horrendous. Just buy some SIDs.

I would seriously advise against buying SIDs. Had to send mine back twice in the space of a month with the 'twisted lowers' problem, now looking to sell them as they have had yet another new set of lower legs put on and I don't want them anymore. They haven't sorted the problem out with a new lower leg design, it's just horrific. They refuse to credit my dealer for the price of them, so I can't get a refund. They refuse to accept that the forks have a design flaw and keep telling me 'it's not a common problem' - it's only seen by them not to be a common problem because many people don't know about it. Go to any race and have a look at the bikes with SIDs on - and I mean even pro elite's - all of them will be crooked. God awful fork.

True - I have 2 pairs of SIDs and they are both a bit wonky.

How about Maguras? The new XC race ones are light.

Have they changed significantly from their Pace ancestors then? Bearing and stanchion wear certainly isn't something I've had an issue with (air seals are another matter).
