I currently have some old (2007) shimano hone combined shifter/brake levers. Can I swap the levers for some normal shimano shifters?

The reason for this is I want to go 1x9, and just use a single right hand shifter pod.

Cheers

As long as you have the correct hoses / connectors then yes you can mix and match.

It all uses mineral oil, no? So it will be fine, if you can make it fit OK. I have an XT lever mated to a Magura caliper. Works fine.

The inner bore of the new hoses is different to the older ones, so good luck bolting a new component on one end, and an older one on the other.... Deore level and down are OK IIRC.
