Hi
I need some pads for my hope race x2, I have put in some superstar pads and bedded them in but they feel awful.
So any other recommendations? Sintered? Organic?
I am running some brand new xc racer discs.
Also need some fox fork oil, 10w.
Thanks
Yeah the uber ones are good, I've had the sintered in for about three or so winter months and they're still fine. As good as anything else I've used. Plus you don't have to contribute towards any superstar profits
I've always found manufacturer pass to be better than after market jobbies.
My Uberbike pads were rubbish. They squealed like pigs at the slightest sign of moisture. No issues when I went back to Shimano resin pads.
I'm struggling with my uberbike pads despite lots of recommendations. I bedded them in but they squel, and the front one feels like it is on full power when i brake, but it doesnt really brake...! Will giv ethem a few more rides to try to bed them in further
Ummmm
Thanks chaps.
May just bite the bullet and buy hope.
My experience of hope pads is that they are the best balance of wear power and squeal. When properly bedded in they last aaaagges.
For my shimano brakes I use superstar or uberbike sintered. Shimano resin last a couple of hours on a wet day in the peaks.
We have used the Uberbike race matrix pads for a couple of years and they have been first class and wear well. Mainly in the Peak and on our Alps trips. Abigale used them on her Enduro for her five weeks in the Alps this last summer and they were as good as the original Shimano ones. Will be looking at their finned options when we need some more.
Big fan of uberbike pads. Use both race matrix and ordinary sintered versions
Generally very good stopping, and quiet, I like them!!
I bought a batch of the Uberbike sintered pads for SLX brakes. Not massively impressed - they squeeled pretty bad after the first time they got properly hot.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related but I wore a set of Shimano RT66 rotors down to a baw-hair's thickness in 6 months when I was using these pads. I've never previously worn out a rotor.
I switched to the Uberbike pads after I had a set of SS sintered pads come apart (no harm done but a bit disconcerting).
So, probably the "proper" ones are worth based on my experience.
I like and rate Uberbike ,I run Hope brakes on all my bikes and really like them ,I've had/got all the compounds & have had no bother with any .
Pads are like cars ,colours ,women & bikes ,we all like differant things,& it's about opinions ,so what works good for me ,you mite hate etc, etc.
As with anything ,You need to buy & try !.
I have a bottle of Fox oil at home, I think its the 10W one, ive only used a tiny amount and don't need it now as I have RS on all my bikes. Let me know if interested
