just looks like a thick version of helitape but I like this video: http://www.bikerumor.com/2010/11/18/dropping-the-hammer-literally-on-cantitoe-shelter-carbon-protection-tape/
I've done a lot of work with impact protection of composite structures and the results of that video are perfectly in line with PU tape of just over 1mm.
