Was wondering if anyone has stayed here and what it was like? It sounds like it's pretty near the trails but is there a village within walking distance with a pub that we can grab a bite at in the evening?

Yes, numerous times, they're very good, about 3 miles from the trails, unfortunately down a pretty unpleasant main road, which is a real drag on the way back. There's a nice pub at the top of the 'resort' which does good pub type food!

Stayed there twice in October. Cabins are nice, they get funny about the number of people staying there but weve got away with it twice. There is one Very old pub with good food and beer within 5mins walk. Theres nothing else though unless you head for a 10 mins drive.

I've stayed there a couple of times. The Rhiw Goch Inn is located at the rear of the park. Food is OK as long as you like chips. Closest village is Trawsfynydd which is about 3 miles away. There's a pub there, The Cross Foxes. I don't know what it's like though.

Flippin heck, I must have got the third choice chef because I thought the food was crap (at best). Nice enough pub though.

I've not been since 2007, so it may well have changed.

Food was poor last year when we stayed, but beer and atmmoshere is good. However, you don't go to Coed y Brenin for the food, do you? The bunkhouse opposite the pub is spot on.

I'd suggest a 15 minute drive to Dolgellau if you want a better choice of food.
