I’m after a 31.6mm x 200mm (+/- a few mm).

Alternatively, I have an Ascend XL 30.9 - does anyone know if I can buy a 31.6mm outer tub & swap the internals? I’ve googled it but can only see inner cartridges for sale.

Surely a £10 30.9 to 31.6 shim is the answer?

Not really - I’ve had a frame crack at the top tube/seat tube junction whilst using a shim, so not going to risk that.

Oh ok. Not seen any deals on droppers of that length since CRC sold out of the Fox ones. Maybe now the OneUp V3 has come out, there might be deals popping up on the V2 model?

Been using one of these for 18 months, better quality than brandx ascend, still working well in Peak District conditions with occasional undo of the collar and clean.
Had a Brand x ascend before and it had a bit more rotational slop out of the box than this.
Tranzx don’t come with a lever so you’ll have to budget for one.

if you get a shim at least 100mm long then that will be sufficient to protect your seat tube

Ribble are selling a dropper for about £40. Can't remember the diameter so you'll have to look.

Never mind, they're definitely not 200mm anyway

I bought a Fox one in 31.6 x 175, which I have not fitted yet, which was meant to replace my 3 ride old Brand X 31.6 x 150. Don't need both so happy to move one on if you're interested?

The Trans X is indeed very good. It is a Brand X, just adjustable, so same reliability.

Been using it with a shim for 12 months.

Alternatively Fox 175 on eBay for around £160 with remote, clamp, cables etc seems decent value and the right diameter.

The ribble one popped up in one of the psa threads, I asked for feedback from anybody who’d owned one and the feedback wasn’t good. I can’t find the thread now but I gave it a miss based on that.

Bought one of these before Christmas. It appears the same as a Brand-X/Trans-X.

Finally got my arse in gear and fitted it tonight, quite impressed for the money. I did swap the lever for an old Crank Bros one I had.

Not sure if the Ribble one is even worth a gamble based on the feedback here. But hopefully it is!
