Bourbons, what I don't understand is why report the bike stolen when he still has it, elaborate insurance fraud?

CHOMP.

I break the speed limit. I've never had points but then I do have indate prescription glasses and drive within my limits. They put warning signs up, paint the things yellow and the camera vans are EASY to spot (usually sighted just after a warning sign).

NEXT.

So he stole his mates bike from work.

Was his mate in on it for insurance fraud or not?
Or
Are there more than one person called tony.

Is it even the same bike?

The plot thickens, what is needed here is a super sleuth .

well if the name on the ebay account and the lack of any previous sale activity is anything to go by then maybe he is just looking after the sale for his friend who has never sold on ebay before and some how got the bike back 🙄

the sleuth in me thinks this :

watsontony (dodgy, even when he posted on here, i thought he seemed a bit dodge)

watsontony, had someone else he knows or (maybe himself?), steal it from the workplace, given they obviosuly both worked there (so knew exactly where it was, how it was locked, value of it etc)

put out all the feelers on the net to look like he was trying to help his mate find it

leaves it a year, then trys to sell it

looking at original post the guy didnt have it insured so not a scam, just sounds like watsontony did his so called friend over like he did a few on here

good spot though phil, justa shame at no point in the original post does watsontony give the bike owners name or mobile for the future if it is spotted, like this!

so basically we have no way of gaining contact with him, other than through watsontony - pretty crafty eh?! 🙁

Yes you should definitely take Tony's word for it when he said it's not insured. He's been totally trustworthy so far.

But it would of been reported stolen to Lancashire Police I would assume. If it is then a crime reference number would be available.

This is definitely our huggable, granny bothering friend watsontony, the PayPal address he used to rip me off is the same as the ebay id on the cove auction. He claims he's advertised elsewhere, anybody know where?

Whilst i can fully understand that Tony pissed a lot of people off on here, it looks possible or even likely that his mate got this back and our long lost friend is selling this for him on the bay.

This was posted on the original thread after watsontony legged it with peoples money

Hi Guys

I have heard through a local bike shop that the Police Station in Uppermill, Saddleworth have a Yellow Cove Shocker which they discovered at someones house shall we say...

Maybe worth calling them as it could be the same bike.

Good Luck

That is followed by numerous sightings of the bike back in water foot. So his mate may well have had it returned to him.

[pedant] I think you'll find that's libel, not slander [/pedant]

The principal practical difference between claims for libel and claims for slander is what a claimant must prove to succeed in his or her claim. In libel claims, the claimant does not have to prove that he or she has suffered loss or damage as a result of the publication. In contrast, in claims for slander, the claimant must prove actual damage. There are however several exceptions to the rule that actual damage must be proved in claims for slander.

For example, if the spoken words accuse the claimant of committing a crime; of having a contagious disease; of being unfit for his or her office, business or profession; or if the communication is an attack of the credit of trades people; or an accusation of being unchaste or adulterous against a woman or girl. In these cases damage is presumed and need not be proved.

And I think you might find he has been accused of a crime!!!

Well done for cutting and pasting some irrelevant information from the internet. It's still libel and not slander though. To make it super simple for you...
Libel = written down
Slander = spoken

Or if you want to go down the cut and paste route:

Q. What's the Difference between Libel & Slander?
A. In general terms, Libel is defamation in permanent form and Slander is defamation in a non-permanent form.

Most commonly Libel tends to be written, broadcast or published online and Slander tends to be the spoken word.

/pedant 😉

EDIT: Anyway [s]Tony[/s] Lisa, if you consider this thread to be defamatory you should ask the mods to delete it.

Acquaintance of mine attempted to sue for libel/slander/defamation.
Judge basically declared that him always publicly threatening to sue was the prime cause for the spreading of that "bad image" within the community, and not those allegedly saying things he didn't like (whether true or not).

/me gets out the popcorn.

Mmmm... so Lisa21123 sells a bike on e bay and signs off the ad "Tony" then creates a new account on here to defend "watsontony" who reported a bike stolen (suspicously similar to the one that was sold on ebay and in the same town) as well as ripping off a couple of other forum members.

Am i the only one who thinks that Lisa/Tony isn't very bright?

I caught crabs once, it was the summer of 81.
We buried buckets a low tide on the beach near my grandads cottage in Ireland.

Happy times, I don't recall a lisa being there but, my uncle Tony was, the theiving bar steward .
You think you know someone.
