Had some specialized low pro mags which have a nice flat platform but the bearings gave up after an ok ish life. In trying to fix them I've come to the conclusion its not a great design. Replaced them with some nukeproof electrons but after a few rides I'm finding the raised middle where the bearings are a bit annoying. So being a bit fussy I'm looking for something slim with a flat platform. Anything out there? Did specialized ever make these:

HT Components AE01 is very thin and very flat. Also a bit crap, terrible bearing design, they're dying as soon as you open the box. But you can still get a decent life out of them.

Superstar nanos, nuke proofs or bit more spendy DMR vaults.

Vaults are even better than flat, they're concave!

Yeah my ae01's have died too..

If it's just the shit bearing on the end, just get rid of it- pack the cap out with washers instead to the right sort of thickness, locktite the end nut on, and let the pedal float. Seems to work exactly as well as the original parts.

Sorry just to clarify, I'm trying to avoid anything with a power bulge around the bearings. The superstars seem to have a bulge as do a few others mentioned. What are those on ones? DMR Vaults might be possible but they are a bit speedy.

Really don't want this bulge in the middle.

What shoes are you wearing?

I have the same pedals and can't feel the bump through my (admittedly very padded) Five10 Impacts.

Unfortunately the bulge is there due to the reduction in the overall height of the pedals (making them slim) therefore you will need to have normal sized pedals that are flat. What about shimano saint, they aren't to bad.

I still run Low Pro Mags as they suit my small feet, have a couple of spare sets in the garage for if they pack in. If you shop around you can still get them Kevin is running the latest Specialized Bennies which are slim and flat but with a bigger platform

New On Ones presumably? Pins look like they were designed not to grip, I guess we'll see.

Hope F20s don;t have that bulge and are pretty slim, and reliable. They need the alternative pins fitted for best grip but that's easy done. Not cheap though.

Yes those pins look like they're designed by someone with longevity and ease of maintenance in mind rather than grip. Non threaded 4mm studs are bad enough but those things looks like 6mm diameter with radiused corners. I'd wager them not offering much grip like that. The pedals on the other hand look great.

The pins on brand new Vaults and the soles on VXi 5.10s stick together so well that it's impossible to lift your foot off without either the front or rear pins pulling the pedal up so it spins around when all you're trying to do is slightly adjust your foot position. I was very glad when the pins fractionally rounded off and the grip levels dropped to something more useful!
