Not remotely thinking about changing my Blur 4X but it's Sunday afternoon and I'm bored.
Just wondering if anyone's owned both the Blur 4X and the LT2, or at least ridden them both to be able to give a decent comparison. Also interested in how something by Intense would compare too.
For reference, I use a Marzocchi 55 on my 4X with the travel wound down to somewhere 120-140mm until I point it downhill when I use the full 160mm. So would be particularly interested to know how the LT2 responds to fork length.
Someone must have?

No-brainer really - lengthening the fork axle to crown will slacken it out slightly and raise the BB - same any bike. ๐
whether you'd get on with the higher BB and slacker steering is entirely down to personal preference.
hated my bro's LT with 160 forks in it, bb to high, slack and wandery..
not ridden a 4x but want one... as my mess about bike
I'm just about to do this very thing. my 4x rocks but i find living in the Cairngorm National park and the big mountain days i finding myself doing more and more the bike beats me up on the descents and breaks my lower back on the climbs. the lt2 has a relatively steep HA but bang a 36 on it with a low stack headset and i reckon it'll be a mountain slayer.
I went from BluR 4x to Tracer VP. Had a demo day on a Blur LT, but was blown away by the performace off the Tracer. I prefer technical descents and found that the Tracer in 6 inch mode with the 36's in 160 mm it was a DH weapon and out classed both Blur's when descending. It's still not shy in climbing up the hill either.....
Opt1cal - what forks did you have on the 4X?
I'd decsribe my 4X with 160mm 55s as a 'downhill weapon' too. If the Tracer is markedly better it must be pretty damn good indeed.
I've used both Pikes and 36's on the 4X.....my I felt that it handled best with 130mm but at 160 mm it was great at going down...the Tracer is indeed a step up on the 4X...handles sharper and I feel more confident on technical rocky DH....both bikes are great fun to ride the Tracer just does everything better and is a more refined ride....I'll be putting a CCDB and a Van 36 on the Tracer soon, as with both bikes I never really liked the RP23...but right now my funds are directed at my 951....which I can confidently call my proper 'DH weapon' ๐
