I think its time I replace the bearings in my frame and I've been looking around for affordable bearing extractor / fitting tools to hopefully make the job easier than bodging something up my self.

I came across this tool on the Superstar website:

http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/bearing-removal-fitting-tool.htm

But the sizes I need 6900 and 6902 are out of stock.

Anyone know where to get a similar tool? Or can you recommend me another tool which is still reasonably priced. Ideally I'd like to keep cost below £50 if possible.

I messaged Superstar a while ago asking for stock, they said there were getting their own made versions in soon, might be worth dropping them an email to see how that's coming along.

I have the same bearing sizes as you but have a RRP tool. The tool itself is just a threaded bar with nice press handle thing at both ends - still a complete rip off at £50 just for that.

you still have to buy the correct kit for each bearing size which are about £20 each. So you're looking at £90 for the lot (?)

however, you could perhaps just buy each bearing kit and it might be compatible with the superstar tool. It depends how thick the bar is.

its all in the bespoke kits by the way - all the tool is is a threaded bar which you can probably made. Also with the kit you can perhaps hammer the bearings in and out if you're careful. Although usually pressing is much better and safer for the frame.

thanks for the info guys. I guess it's the correct size drifts that really make bearing removal / fitting easy? The other bit just appears to be a threaded bar.

Maybe I could just buy a set of RRP or Wheelsmfg drifts and use a threaded bar with some nuts and washers?

Just use threaded bar, nuts, washers and some sockets from socket Set, you can usually find a socket to match whatever bearing you are pushing /pulling.
