riding down to Rome starting next week, anticipate crossing in Italy 21 May. Had wanted to use St Bernard's Pass.
Anyone know what it's looking like ?
If it's closed then I guess Forclaz / Montets then the Chamonix bus through the tunnel is an option (accom already booked in Martigny & La Thuile).
Advice and other alternatives welcomed !

think that you might be getting the bus

"The much smaller historic road winding over the pass itself, which lies a few hundred metres from the Swiss border with Italy, is only passable June to September."
Passed through the St Bernard tunnel yesterday and they were out clearing snow off the road to the pass, would guess there is still too much snow though, the last bit doesn't get much sun.
It's one of my all time favourite roads (apart from the engine starting to overheat). Great view of Grand Combin aswell.

a bit of Matt Munro on your ipod[/url]
many thanks, all. Not sure about the Matt Munro, I'm old enough to remember it the first time...
well considering how much snow has fallen this winter I wouldn't count too much on the touristic passes/col to be open.
