chaps, can we take this back to IWH - if you want to bash Hora, take it elsewhere - there's people who've already outlayed cash here rather than slightly (and rightly) disgruntled sellers.

😐 Time and a place. I dont understand how people can be soo sensitive. If I say bit more than Im willing to pay do I have to reply back re-asserting this? In the grand scheme of things it doesnt seem hyper-sensitive compared to someone being royally-ripped off? (Or even normally IMO). Sheesh, Ive had people say they'd have stuff off me and left hanging (frames, wheels etc). Get real, people forget, busy, forget to reply etc etc- its not the end of the world is it folks? 😕

A bit of thread drift won't do any harm, at least it'll keep it at the top of the forum.

There was about 5 pages about ostriches and penguins?! Why all the calls to get back OT when Horas 'issues' get mentioned!?

In the time it took you to write that you could have responded to the guy to say thanks but no thanks. its hardly a major effort?

That was 2months ago.

Thing is, how do we stop the IWH-situation happening again? I know you could ask other buyers (looking through the sellers history) if all was well but what if the bogus seller sets up numerous accounts and sham-sales first? TBH to make say £600 its well worth a fraudster putting in say 10hours work over a couple of months making comments on threads etc etc first isnt it?

If people still buy and sell stuff with a forum legend like you, what's the chances of any system working with a complete randomer?

I presume Evans pay for the ad on that 559 site?

I wonder if they're aware of this, as generally not good association?

LOL. Hora you plonker 😉 I don't mind that you didn't buy the bloody thing but you coming along acting all smart about this bloke and spouting about internet etiquette is just laughable.

A case of the pot calling the kettle black, IMO.

No offence like 😎

I thought the schools had gone back?

coming along acting all smart about this bloke and spouting about internet etiquette

and thus your taking some of the heat away from him. Nice one.

As someone else said but you obviously missed, several pages of wibble about penguins and ostriches doesn't seem to have done any harm, does it?

Are you having trouble accepting my point? Trying to deflect the (tiny) bit of attention you're receiving by getting all high-horse is rather disingenuous too.

People in glass houses and all that 😉

hora said... why I am being linked in with a blatant-thief?

What's the difference between someone who takes the cash but doesn't send the goods and someone who takes the goods and doesn't send the cash?

I think you're being linked because, until the jiffy bag full stuffed full of used fivers arrives, it appears like you've robbed Spankmonkey of his goods.

Or have I missed the point?

pk-ripper, I don't think cutting off the guy's revenue from a click-through advert is going to help the situation much. As other people have said, get the guy's address and sue him. You can split the issue fee up between you.

I have not parted with the goods so no real harm, just a waste of 3 weeks when I could have sold it the same day and received funds. I just cannot beleive you sent it in an envelope via normal mail, at least recorded you could have tracked it and been covered. Selling / Buying on here is just not worth the hassle, people moan about ebay but at least you have some protection and its more official. Think I will stick to the chat section from now on and ebay for buying / selling 🙁

Hey I agree. The Post Office is a hassle though, bloody queues all day long as its the main Manchester one.. plus there wasnt one open on bank holiday Monday when I posted it off.. and I paid the other two recent sellers direct into their a/c's. I know you said paypal is preferred, next time I buy something from here I'll probably look at getting a paypal a/c for the protection.

Still can't believe people are talking small claims court rather than the police THEN court 🙂

If his mum didn't like two blokes turning up, she's REALLY not going to appreciate a patrol car with a member of Plymouth's finest trying to get across this internet classifieds theft business. Should take at least 4 cups of tea and a packet of biscuits before Mrs IWH Senior can get him out of the lounge.

I agree with atlaz - this is really theft, not just a dispute over some money.

Unless you can show that he is clearly trying to con people, the police won't initially get involved.
It's a civil matter otherwise

I agree that it's a civil matter at the moment which is why I'm trying to get a handle on the amounts involved. And number of people.

Once that's known then we may have a clearer idea how best to proceed.

Thats scary when you out it all together. Not sure how interested the poilce will be interested, as it says above this will probably be a civil case going by what a number of other web sites say.

Really unfortunate that this had to go this way, there are a small number of people that put you off using classifieds. Must admit not something I tend to use after being done over.

That thing about 2 guys coming to his mothers house was Bullshite anyhow. Looking at all the posts its abvious this is nother smoke screen to hide behind. Chuck your dear old mother into the mix, makle people feel even more sorry. Add some more crap about 2 heavys coming to the house, someone going to knife him.

Just a way of putting people off doing anything to him. Its a pitty a few people dont live nearer to him and just go and see him and maybe get the money back for a few others. Having had dealings with people of this ilk, Its often very hard to get money back, they will do anything to spin a yarn or avoid you. Without resorting to physical violence nothing much wll get the money out of them. It goes against the grain but how often do loan sharks go away with no money? If a bloke from the bank asks for money people just chuck the letters in the bin if they cant pay up.

It all boils down to how far people will go to get there hard earned money back form such a shithouse.

Con men often play on the fact people will just let thngs go for the sake of a few here and there. But to them it all adds up!

His Mum has already hung up on one STW'er. His Mother is probably very similar to him TBH. Thing is, why did he give his home address? Thats the bit I couldnt get my head round

Well at least just over a grand from the quick tot up, no doubt a lot more so no small change. Sounds to me like he has sold items, spent the cash and is now over his head. So either has not got the parts to send or has a back log of about 30 parts to post but cannot face it. From his web site he says he is a dedicated biker and cannot imagine life without it.. Even if he has personal issues... no excuse for months of blagging! 4 years ago my son was born at 27 weeks and was in NICU for 3 months.. A week after the unexpected birth I took 2 days off work and caught up on packaging up parcels, posted them and emailed the buyers to say sorry for the delay! Likewise 3 months ago we had our 2nd child, horrid birth and has colic and feeding issues, well all the problems and issues round that my life has been lets say the pits! Despite this I have posted a few days late, but I have……. Unless you have been in hospital, jail or the like there are no excuses for this kind of tosh! And the bloke needs to pull his finger out and stop making excuses. Sadly he will obviously never be accepted by the community again for something that is such a big part of his life! As for his family, well as they say don’t sh1t on your own door

I'm not sure why I'm wading in - but its like playing Cludo so I can't resist

A few mentions of iPhones for 200 pounds - sounds like his "plan" was to sell stuff up front, get the money to pay for his US holiday and source the stuff over there for cheap then bring it back to send to his buyers

it went wrong, he spent all the money and now doesn't have the stuff to send.

its a "del boy" style business idea gone wrong

Idea: When you register you need to provide a work email (wont be used beyond registration email and for mods) but will need to be verified by email and first/last name. This is then held onfile. Its not foolproof though plus not every rider has a works pc/emaily addy

Hora its a good idea.

Here is another, what about if everyone posted feedback on the classified posts they dealt with, like, well packed, great STW seller.

Then, when buying stuff you can check out there selling posts for feedback?
