Wondered if anyone was 'in the know' re: the current diversions at Glentress. They affect a lot of the Blue route and the Buzzards nest car park is closed.
On the 7 Stanes info site it says these will end on the 18th but I was just wondering if anyone could confirm that as I know with the nature of the work it could take slightly longer or shorter than initially planned!
Would like to go on 19th but may not if logging still affects those parts.
Thanks in advance for any info!
They've had a fair bit of snow and ice so it might be disrupted (nothing stops a forestry machine but it can give them access issues). I know the plan was definitely to have it all reopened before christmas though.
You can still get in a great ride at glentress though if you know a wee bit of the easy to find offpiste- park in peebles, go up janet's horrible brae then up through the skills area to access all the trails above the carpark. And then getting back down there's a couple of options, I believe you can get down to the ponds via the black descents and super steep (which is not super steep), and you can definitely go down the fort descent which is ace. Not secrets exactly, just not on the maps, they're both #enduro routes ๐
Thanks for the reply Northwind. I know the routes you mean but may not be suitable for all of us riding. Would be better if Buzzards and all Blue options were open.
Hey there - I spoke to someone at the Forestry commission last week and it sounds like they are still on schedule. They will re-open the closed trails for the Christmas holidays and then they will be closed for further harvesting til approx March.
Most of the red (which is open) is ride-able...few bits of snow and ice, but nothing too bad.
Thanks borderbloke.
It'd definitely be the Blue grade trails we'd need to be on for everyone to have fun so that's why I was most interested in the Buzzards Car park etc
janet's horrible brae
Most apt nickname ever.
