Hi All,

I've been to California a couple of times, but only gone up as far as Marin (Mt. Tam), across to Downieville and then Tahoe. After this we have generally headed south.

This time we might go further North (if it is worth it?) and across into Reno (is there anything there?), rather than going so far south?

Can anyone point out anything North that would be worth visiting?

Cheers
Leon

PS: As a guide to the type of riding we like - 'one' of our favorite places was Downieville.

Hi, google "Tsali" for details of a trail centre in North Carolina. The trails are good fun but not in the same league as Downieville.

If you want an alternative to California I would look at Breckenridge in Colorado - close enough to take in Fruita and/or Moab.

I think you read it wrong? 'North California' not 'North Carolina' - but on the other statement - Moad/Crested Butte is the other option we are considering?

Riding in Crusty Butt and Moab is amazing, I'd have to rate it better, but there's still some nice trails north of The City I think...Point Reyes for a start.

I thought we were going to Switzerland this year.

Whatever.

When you decide on a NorCal destination, I hope you'll stop in our little town and say "Howdy." (That's Californian for, "Let me buy you a beer.")

We are going to the Alps on the 7th July for a week, but just planning the next US trip.

Of course we'll stop and say "Howdy", but you'll have to stop and say "Hello" (That's English for, "Let me put a couple of ribs on the BBQ and my wife will do some corn bread for you." ๐Ÿ˜€ )

EDIT: Oh.... and of course "Help yourself to my Sierra Nevada." !!

Flume Trail's not bad if you're in the Lake Tahoe area. Cracking views, nothing too technical though.

Yeah, we did that a couple of years ago - we thought it was a bit tame & boring....but I know what you mean by the views!

I had an invitation to France for a big MTB event in the Alps this summer, but it was for the same day my daughter will graduate from the university. Perhaps you remember her.

Next year.

That's a shame, I expect you would have been in your element! Of course I remember her, she went and got me a much needed coffee the next morning! Say hello to her & your wife for me...

Next Year, what? The event was next year or you'll go there next year instead?
