Hi we are visiting some freinds who are staying in Ambleside one night this week. Would like to pop out for an evening ride somewhere fairly flat and child friendly for an 8 year old.
Anyone got any advice?

Drive to High Wray and pedal along the west side of lake Windermere to the car ferry and turn round and pedal back. One of my spin outs with kids!!!

Sound advice as all the roads in and out of Ambleside can be a little dodgy.

Biketreks in Ambleside will be able to give you some great route advice, theres some fairly easy trails out there but some road/path work will be needed

Another recommendation for the above. You won't find much else that's both flat and safe in that area.

we used to live near Tarn Hows and taught the lads to cycle around the tarn- best done in the evening when the bumblies and national rust have gone home. it is about 3 miles on the mtb.
