Not sure if it's a server thing, but when plugging in my 800 I just get a message saying 'Garmin Express has experienced a problem and has to close'
Annoying as I've got a 100 mile ride to upload!
I used it successfully a few hours ago... Dunno if that helps you much though.
You tried turning it off an on again?

You could do a manual upload of the FIT file, you don't have to use Garmin Express.

So uninstalled and reinstalled garmin express seesms to have worked. Interested in how to manually upload the file @CraigW, I resent relying on a buggy program to act as the middleman!
Go to the activities page on Garmin Connect, then in the top corner there is a button for "Import". So click on that, and it lets you browse for a file.
You have to pick the drive for your Edge, then its probably in the Garmin\Activities folder, as a FIT file for your ride.
