As above please.

I'm thinking of building one up with an 8speed Alfine Hub as an all weather utility bike. Any thoughts?

I've also considered another On-Ones but fancied a change having already had 2 26" Inbreds.

Cheers!

I really wanted to like the Swift, the finish is certainly better and they just look right, but I preferred the feel of my Inbred 29er. The Singular forks are better than On-one rigids though.

So if you can I'd try before you buy.

I love my Swift, did a test ride on one and it just felt right. Ran mine briefly with an Alfine 8 but prefer it single speed. Comfortable bike for all day rides, handles really well, looks great. What more do you want?

I fell between sizes a bit so hard to judge properly. The niner mcr that replaced it is much lighter out back and has some zip that I felt was lacking on the swift.

It's a versatile bike and would do this well if it's what you need. Try and get a demo. Head for the Hills in Dorking have a Swift with an Alfine on it I believe.

yup but at 2 x the price, and without forks. (Actually more now, MCR9 is discontinued there is only SIR9).

You're right tho the Niners are nice too.

I thought mine was ok, just a bit too short in top tube though

Love mine, had it a few years, running it fat front at the moment.
It's always Singlespeed.

Not a better steel rigid 29er on the market, for the money, IMHO.

I sold mine and am going to build a 456 again, need a long travel HT where I live really and how I ride, thought a 100mm Swift would be OK but never felt confident on it so sold it before this years influx of 29ers hit the market.

Tempted to get a Cube 29er or similar circa £600 for bikepacking duties as it will do fine for the money

You'll be wanting a Buzzard when they get here then 🙂

Honestly, no bike is going to be ideal for everyone, everything has a marmite element. However I'm glad to say that I hear very few (almost no) reports of people particularly disliking the Swift.

Tbh I would have never paid rrp for a niner! Great nic 2nd hand for 380. Certainly liked it just a weird fit thing for me.

Love my Swift, such a versatile frame will do almost every set up you want.
I had it SS, now it's got an Alfine 8, rigid? or bouncy front ... You choose.
Great for bike packing and does everything I ask of it and more

Cheers Guys, all seems mostly favourable, pretty much confirming what I'd already read.

Hmm mine was okay just build quality wasn't as hot as other frames at the same price or only fractionally more. Bit heavy and had a high front end with those forks.

Yup I found the front a little high to start with, I slammed and flipped the stem and it's fine, I still have a low riser bar fitted so can can go lower if needed, by switching that to flat, but there's no need. The bike looks nice without a bunch of headset spacers.

Jrtg- was yours an early version?
I think the more recent one has got a lower front- 'think' being key to this statement!

I really don't like not having a swift... Does that help?

I believe the change was in the fork not in the frame.

http://www.singularcycles.com/faq/ "What were the reasons for the Swift fork length change"

I'm 5'8", the medium is a good fit on me and like I say I'm still riding bars with a little rise, 15mm I think. It took me a while to drop the instinct to have a bunch of spacers but actually it's neater. A 26er with a bunch of spacers AND riser bars too looks silly now.
