Nope, but it looks cool in the pictures and sounds like a great trail bike. I almost bought the last alloy one but was put off by reviews suggesting the rear end was plush but a bit soggy when climbing. Sounds like the new one has fixed that. All I see out and about are Transition Patrols generally - not Scouts.

They are about 1lb heavier than they should be, frame wise, worth bearing in mind. Harry Main on YouTube seems very excited and thrilled with his.

Ah ok. I did something similar earlier in the year - I went from a Bird Aeris 145LT (170f / 160r travel) to a Bird Aether 7 (140f / 130mm). Love the change - pedals better and I’m confident and faster in the corners.

My bad, didnt realise they ditched the alloy version, which was 9lb.

Not had a go, but they look expensive and appear to be limited in stock, i'm on a 2019 patrol like you and have to say i thought about trail bikes, but the patrol does well enough, although if you're not using it at bikeparks and so on it can be a bit of a overkill, i just didn't think the new scout is a good enough drop from a patrol to justify the expense, they've kind of brought the scout closer to the patrol, guessing the new patrol will be 180/170 or the likes.

I've got one & so far I'm very happy with it. I'm very much a one bike needs to fit all kind of bike owner & I find the 140/150mm range best fits the full scope of my riding so that was what brought it onto my radar. I'm 5'6" in my thickest socks & riding a small but I could probably have run a medium just as easily thanks to the super short seat tube & standover (another huge plus point for me) If I'm being honest the head angle could be 1/2 a degree steeper but it is good in the steeps. It is also a tad weighty for a carbon bike but the frame appears to be built burly. My only real gripe is the well where the bottom shock mount is, it could have done with a drain hole as it's prone to collecting water & mud.
Trans Scout
Apologies to the gods of STW for the unfinished paving/wall!

Got mine a couple of weeks ago.

Coming from a large Patrol, then a large Sentinel I downsized to a medium.

Absolutely love it. After 18 months on a Sentinel it just feels so quick and snappy.

It’s replaced a 2017 aluminium Scout and 2018 aluminium Patrol. For me it’s the perfect all rounder and replaces both of those previous bikes brilliantly.
It’s not quite as poppy as the original geometry Scout but it climbs better and is way more capable when descending. It’s probably not as capable downhill as a Patrol but it’s more bike than I’ll ever need!

Just pushed the button on a Medium GX 😊 coming from a Large carbon Patrol and being 5,10 I’m hoping it won’t be to small.
Looking forward to picking lines rather than ploughing trough stuff.

Nearly backed out after being on Adrenaline Uplift last Friday where the Patrol absolutely killed it!
That thing just loves to go fast!

PS I’m only keeping the Scout frame forks and seat post and putting everything else off the GX Scout on my Patrol then selling that.

I really fancied one, but it just seems heavy. I mean it's heavier than my alloy SC Nomad.
Spur looks like the bike for me.

A lot of the weight is in the tyre choice, with EXO+ Assegai/DHR II you've got the best part of 2.5kg of tyres on there! The frames are competitive compared to modern SC/Yeti bikes. Swapout to some lighter but still tough tyres and you'd knock a fair amount of weight amount without compromising durability.

I was comparing frame to frame. Nuts that a 140mm carbon frame weighs more than a 160mm alloy frame.

@SOAP I’m 5’9 32” inseam and definitely made the right choice dropping down to a medium.

I got lucky and ended up with a 210mm dropper, not sure which spec you went for but the latest GX bikes come with newer 52T GX and the C3 Lyrik.

@bluearsedfly it’s the GX with the 52t cassette. Has C3 Lyrik Got the new air shaft in?

That’s what I’m led to believe. I’ve not opened mine up yet but the Sram blurb confirms it has https://www.sram.com/en/rockshox/models/fs-lyrk-ult-c3

Did anyone get a large Scout and wish they had a Medium?
