I will be riding down to near Fountainhall ( halfway to Gala on the A7)for a party this weekend - the only offroad route I know of involves huge detours and I have ridden it before. anyone know any good bits?

Previous route was East on the Pencaitland railway walk to Saltoun, south thru the lammermuirs to Carfrae mill then accorss Hrtford hill to Fountainhall.

Anyone got any ideas?

How about the Waverley Line TJ? There must be long sections of that available?

Tried it in the past - heavily vegetated and some parts of it dissapear populated by killer sheep as well. Not a bad call tho

TJ - was up there lastnight (Lammermuirs) and conditions couldn't be more perfect..

from W.Saltoun (end of the railway track) you can head south through Saltoun big wood over towards Humbie then head to Leaston (farm) and start the Lammermuir part via dodd wood.

We could go south thru the Pentlands to Carlops or something but I can't see anyway to the east over the Moorfoots ๐Ÿ™
