and how does it compare to a Chromag Surface / Rootdown or anything similar?

At the end of the day it's just a bike frame, it's not a magical cure for the ennui of existence or the regrets of a lifetime of mistakes. But it's a nice colour, and I find it goes up hill and down dale a lot better than its predecessor.
I've had to buy some new forks though, as the frame encourages behaviour which the old forks couldn't really cope with.
