Hi chaps,

I've got a few pairs of kneepads, I bought a set of IXS Daggers which fit spot on and feel great walking around and generally wearing.

However, when about 5 minutes into any ride the backs of the knees start to get sore. The mesh digs into the skin.

I'm either going to pop them on the for sale section and size up, or.... Has anyone cut the back mesh off knee pads to improve comfort and reduce chaffing \ cutting into backs of knees?

They're a great pad when using them purely for downhill runs, but pedally is a PITA.

cheers

Ricks

No no and no,!!! I use "leg warmers" . These are just lycra stretchy things used by roadies. I wear these under Knee pads. They stop chafing and also help ti wick sweat away, just like a base layer. Your knee won't get too hot and it works well. I don't advise cutting up expensive pads. Endura make decent knee warmers that i use under knee pads.

That was actually option c) ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've got a spare pair of knee warmers kicking about, my problem was more of when using them during the summer or in the Alps, that they'd get proper warm.

I used to get this with my 661 kneepads, found that after a couple of months they kind of "bed in" and now they fit like a glove and have no issues wearing them all day. I have done the knee warmer thing as well, but does get hot and if you crash seems to cause the kneepad to move more.

Yes, I have some fox launch pads and they were rubbing the backs of my knees quite badly. I just cut out the material that I needed to and they've been absolutely fine since.

I'd sooner cut up my knee pads than wear leg warmers under them!
