apart from
1/ it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing
2/ it will slow the steering down ( equivalent of 140mm ) which I don't mind

basically as you see the frames a bit small for me (even though it's a large) and I want a fairly upright position but the steerer was too short for a normal high rise stem + I needed it to be fairly long anyhow.
my other option (apart from a bigger frame) was to use a steerer extender of which I have both types .

your comments please (preferably helpful ..but I know you lot!)

its fine, just as long as you're fast enough to out run the men with giant butterfly nets who will be employed by the NHS to catch you.

would it not make the frame feel a bit short?

Develop some flexibility. Then you can go out and ride that bike properly.
2 years ago on the Dragon ride there was an incredibly distrubing mtb-er (well he told everyone he was a mtb-er and didn't really understand road biking) on a Cervelo with an upturned stem like yours mounted onto a steerer extender. Oh and kept overlapping wheels between the riders in front and the verge.
Basically, do what you want, no one else really cares.

funnily enough I am pretty flexible and I must admit it's a bit higher than I wanted but I like a good upright position as well as being on the drops is very comfy!

I also have a lightweight roadbike and the bars are in a relatively normal position in comparison ...I just wanted something to pootle about on in total comfort!

If that's the best you can do, fair enough.

But it's so wrong.

You must be a Professor of Wrongness at the University of Wrong in Wrongville, Wrongland.

Bars at the same height as your saddle? Why?

If you are as big as you seem, put your saddle further back, get a reasonable riser stem and stop even thinking about riding such a clown bike.

btw it's only an experiment at the moment and I'll most likely not go ahead ๐Ÿ˜†

Turn if up the otherway so it's pointing downwards. That way you'll feel like your riding downhill everywhere!

It looks a shocker, but if it makes it work for you, then have at it ๐Ÿ™‚
