[Closed] Any reason not to use 10spd front derailleur with 9 speed system?

Front mech on a little used bike seems to have virtually seized. 10 speed mechs seem much cheaper, any reason not to buy?

You'll get a little bit more chain rub on the cage at the extremes of the cassette as a 9spd chain is slightly wider than the mech is designed to take but other than that it should work OK.

Just make sure you're using the correct one though as a double mech won't work with a triple chainset.
